Wound is an Active Ability in Sonny (2017). It's available for Sonny from the Physical Strain.

In-Game Description[]

Deal X damage and apply Bleed to the target for 3 turns. Bleed causes extra damage to the target each time it is hit. Your allies are also more likely to attack bleeding targets.

Details[]

Strikes an enemy 1 time, dealing Physical (X) damage with 120% of the caster's Power, multiplied with damage factor Y. If this ability hits, it applies the buff Bleed on the target. After this ability has been used, it enters a cooldown of 3 turns.

Target Buff[]

Bleed: Take Z extra damage each time this unit is hit.

When the target is attacked, they take damage (Z) with 47.5% of the caster's Power, at the time this buff was applied. A charge is also consumed. When the target ends their turn, this buff's duration ticks down. This buff always starts with 99 charges and a duration of 3 turns when applied, or re-applied, to a unit. This buff is considered to be a negative buff.

This buff also increases the target's A.I. Attack Target Factor to 1.5, which isn't mentioned in the buff's description. The factor's effect however, is mentioned in the ability description.

Upgrades[]

Damage factor (Y) is upgraded:

  • Level 1: Multiplied with damage factor 1.05 (126% Power)
  • Level 2: Multiplied with damage factor 1.1 (132% Power)
  • Level 3: Multiplied with damage factor 1.15 (138% Power)
  • Level 4: Multiplied with damage factor 1.2 (144% Power)
  • Level 5: Multiplied with damage factor 1.25 (150% Power)

Tactics[]

Upgrading this skill only increases the direct damage dealt. However, Bleed damage is affected by elemental power and will recieve a small boost when upgrading skills in the Physical Strain. While Bleed damage ignores Defense, utilising buffs that reduces Defense can increase it's damage if the target's Defense becomes low enough to increase damage taken. In addition, since the debuff triggers when the target is hit, using Multistrike skills on bleeding targets can cause significant damage.

As it's description states the debuff can be used to tell allies to focus their attacks on one target, which can be helpful against enemies that use powerful skills after a few of their turns has passed, such as the Acid Bomber.

Evolutions[]

  • Recommended:
    • Resonance: The game applies Resonance first before applying Bleed, so the buff will benefit from the significant element power bonus. Obviously it's fine if Resonance is evolved on an another Physical ability.
    • Fury: Allows this ability to trigger the Bleed effect once directly after applying said buff. As this ability has a base power scaling above 100%, Fury's penalty will not reduce the total direct damage dealt.

Trivia[]

  • The buff this skill applies has 99 charges since it's not intended to expire by consuming all charges. The game doesn't normally display the charge amount.
  • In addition, this buff is only available for Sonny in the Physical Strain, both through this skill and through the strains' unique evolution that shares the same name.
  • The enemy skill Chain Bolt is functionally identical to this skill, the only difference being that Chain Bolt has the Lightning element.
