Ice Wall is an Active ability in Sonny (2017). It's available for Sonny from the Frost Strain.

In-Game Description[]

Deal X damage to the target's team, gaining an additional 100% of defense as damage. If used on your own team, will heal instead of damage. Also applies Ice Wall, stunning the target but also increasing its defense by 300%.

Details[]

Strikes all enemies, or all allied units, 1 time with a ranged attack. If targeting enemies, this ability deals Frost damage with 50% of the caster's Power + 100% of the caster's Defense, multiplied with damage factor (Y). If targeting allies, this ability will restore HP using the same scalings. In both cases, it will apply the buff Ice Wall on hit. After this ability has been used, it enters a cooldown of 5 turns.

The "Skill" menu will only show the Power portion of the damage. While in battle, the game will show the total scaling.

Target Buff[]

Ice Wall: Target is stunned but gains 300% defense. (+ Def and Stun)

The +300% Defense modifier is continuous while the buff is active. The target of this buff is also unable to act, and automatically skips their turn. A charge is consumed as well, and this buff starts with 2 charges when applied. It's also considered to be a negative buff.

Upgrades[]

Damage factor (Y) is upgraded:

  • Level 1: Multiplied with damage factor 1.05 (52.5% Power & 105% Defense)
  • Level 2: Multiplied with damage factor 1.1 (55% Power & 110% Defense)
  • Level 3: Multiplied with damage factor 1.15 (57.5% Power & 115% Defense)
  • Level 4: Multiplied with damage factor 1.2 (60% Power & 120% Defense)
  • Level 5: Multiplied with damage factor 1.25 (62.5% Power & 125% Defense)

Tactics[]

This ability has the potential to stun-lock the enemy team when combined with abilities that refresh cooldown and a high Speed stat. The high Defense can be bypassed using abilities that deal piercing damage, either directly or through buffs.

Evolutions[]

  • Recommended
    • Prepare: Easier to stun-lock enemies, especially those with high Speed.
  • Avoid
    • Diffuse: This ability already has the "AoE" effect, picking this will only apply the penalties.
    • Erode: Has little effect since stat modifiers are additive, resulting in a +250% Defense instead of +300%.

Trivia[]

  • This ability has an AI weight factor programmed, which might mean that during development it was also usable by certain A.I. units. It was then later removed, and only Sonny has access to this ability.
