Chroman Screen is an A.I. Exclusive Passive Ability in Sonny (2017). It applies the aura Chroma Screen to the equipped unit.
Aura Description[]
At the end of each turn, unit gains extra defense against the last element used against it.
Details[]
When the target of this aura is attacked, it applies the positive buff Protected to them. The buff will have the same element as the attack which triggered this aura.
Target Buff[]
Protected: (ELEMENT) defense increased by 200%. (+ Element Def 200%)
(ELEMENT) is the buff's current element.
The Element Defense modifier is continuous while the buff is active. When the target of this buff ends their turn, a charge is consumed. This buff starts with 3 charges when applied, and gains an extra charge if the target doesn't already have this buff, of the same element. This buff is considered to be positive.

Tactics[]
Use abilities that ignores Defense, since they will subsequently ignore Element Defense as well. This applies to buffs that deals Defense ignoring damage too.
Abilities that apply Breach or Expose achieves a similar effect, in which it enables the player to use abilities of the same element without losing much damage. This is because Element Defense is simply a multiplier to a unit's current Defense, and if it has been significantly reduced due to a buff, the bonus Defense from Element Defense will also be reduced.
If the player doesn't have the above options, then the only way to bypass the Protected buff is to use an ability of a different element than the buff. The player needs to take into consideration the elements of their allies' attacks as well.
Trivia[]
- The similarly named ability Chroma Shell is also similar in function. Both of these apply buffs that increases Element Defense to the target.
- The difference between them is that Chroma Shell is an active healing ability that can apply the buff to allies. That buff is also weaker than this ability's buff.
