Area Shock is an A.I. Exclusive Active Ability in Sonny (2017).

Details

Strikes all enemies 1 time, dealing Lightning damage with 90% of the caster's Power in each strike. After this ability has been used, it drains 20 Focus from the last target. This ability has no cooldown.

Tactics

If both allies are alive, the ally on the top position will be hit by the Focus draining effect, as they are currently holding the last (3rd) position of the team. If only one ally is present in the party, in the bottom position, they will be hit by the focus draining effect. Sonny will never be hit by it unless he is alone in the party, as he always takes the 1st position in the party.

The player can switch the position of their allies in the "Party" menu by deselecting and re-selecting them (the first ally selected will occupy the 2nd position, the second ally the 3rd position). This can help if they rely on an ally that can turn the tide of a fight at a specific timing.

Trivia

• The ability Snow Storm, used by Zakk and the Frost Mage, has a similar behavior. It will also apply it's effect to the last target.
