Area Magma Beam is an A.I. Exclusive Active Ability in Sonny (2017).
Details[]
Strikes all enemies 1 time, dealing Fire damage with 100% of the caster's Power. This ability applies the buff Breach to both the caster and target on hit. After it has been used, this ability enters a cooldown of 3 turns.
Caster Buff[]
Breach: Defense reduced by 50%. (- Defense 50%)
The Defense modifier is continuous while the buff is active. When the target of this buff ends their turn, a charge is consumed. This buff starts with 2 charges, and will also gains an extra charge if the target doesn't already have it, of the same element.
As this buff, with the buff condition "Turn End", is applied to the caster it immediately consumes a charge after being applied. Furthermore, if this ability hits more than one enemy, this buff will also lose the extra charge gained by applying a unique buff to a unit. As such this buff can start with as low as 1 charge after this ability has been used.
Target Buff[]

Tactics[]
The Breach buff can be counteracted with Guard, and the evolution Reactive Defense in Sonny's case, since Attribute modifies stack additively.
While the self-inflicted Breach buff can temporarily increase the damage dealt by Sonny's party, it will likely only last for 1 turn. As such the player won't get much use of it unless they execute an ability that deals tremendous burst damage, such as a critical Blast.
Trivia[]
- Compared to Magma Beam, which Sonny has access to, this ability applies Breach to all valid targets instead of just a single target. The downside of this ability is that it has a longer CD and also applies the same buff to the caster.
